Each one of our products is made only once a year to coincide with the annual French Truffle harvest. Our creations are absolutely packed with fresh Truffle and as it is only possible to get hold of these underground treasures between December and February, we are at the mercy of nature and time as to when we can make them. Much like the Périgord Truffles themselves, the window of opportunity for buying these items is a small one. When they are gone, they are truly gone, and it will be almost a whole year before they will be available again. Truffe's skin-care products are to be eagerly awaited and then 'devoured' in true Truffle fashion. Bring a little 'Truffe' into your life so you can rediscover the excitement that real seasonality brings.
TRUFFLES IN SKIN-CARE
mycorhizienne
A mycorrhiza is a symbiotic association between a fungus and a plant.
In exchange for a place to live, the truffle fungus searches out and gathers water and nutrients that it then shares with the tree. The fungus collects nutrients that the tree alone would be unable to find. Over 80% of all plants on Earth form relationships with mycorrhizal fungi and without them most of these would die. When it comes to digging deep for skin feeding nutrients, mushrooms come first , plants come second. And, as truffles are some of the most nutritious fungi available it would appear there is little competition out there. It is time that the Emperor of the mycological world, the Truffle, is properly given its moment in the skin-care limelight.
SKIN Nutrition
Truffles are packed with nutritional goodies. They contain masses of amino acids which aid collagen production, stacks of fatty acids for deep skin hydration, excellent anti-inflammatory capabilities that aid at repairing the skin barrier; numerous vitamins and minerals including vitamin C for reducing hyper-pigmentation, B12 for preventing hyper pigmentation, magnesium and iron. There are also high concentrations of the powerful anti oxidant superoxide dismutase and Truffles also have has anti bacterial properties. And this is only the ingredients whose benefits are well documented. The world of mushrooms is a mysterious one and it constantly surprises us. It is only a matter of time before we discover the next wonder compound contained within these Black Diamonds of the dirt.
Ancient Practice
It may actually come as a surprise to many that using truffles on our skin is not, in fact, a modern discovery at all. There are countless tales from the Périgord, a beautiful and unspoilt part of South Western France as well as in Italy, where truffle oils and extractions have been touted as anti-aging wonders for generations. Truffles are nutrient-dense riches from the soil. In fact, the truffle is the fruiting body of a network of hyphae and mycorrhizes which have evolved into nutrient super-gatherers. Truffles have the power to reverse damage and protect the skin and with these miracle molecules and it is clear to see why, ever since Roman times, humans have been proclaiming the benefits of taking Truffles, inside and out.
Our PROCESS
When we first think of Truffles, we think of food. The best approach to cooking with Truffles is to use the freshest possible truffles, grown in the finest terroir without the use of any chemicals or fertilizers, harvested at the peak of their maturity and prepared as respectfully as possible to carry as many of the desirable compounds into the final dish. The Truffle demands a support act composed of simple ingredients of the highest quality so that the Truffle can take centre stage in all its glory and prowess. There must be plenty of Truffle; nothing may detract from the Truffle. And thus, working in a cosmetic context, we must take a similar approach, endeavouring to extract everything that we can from these mycological jewels and showcase them in all their glory.
All Natural Product
All of our Truffles are hunted out in our own truffière set amongst the rolling hills of the Périgord with the aid of a very clever little nose. This nose belongs to our beautiful Lagotto Romagnolo 'Duggy'. Only the freshest Organic Périgord Truffles (Tuber Melanosporum) are used alongside the finest natural ingredients. As a result, our products are gentle and safe enough even for him to use.

FROM THE HEART OF THE PÉRIGORD
Winter is often seen as the least favourite time of the year. However, here in rural Southwestern France, there is much to look forward to. A blissful peace engulfs the region as the last of the year's tourists have finally departed. Even the cobbled streets of the beautiful medieval towns and villages seem to be having a rest. Yet still, excitement hides around every corner. Among the many seasonal specialities and delicacies of this stunning region, few are more hotly anticipated as the arrival of Black Winter Truffles. They appear at the start of December and by the end of February they are gone. It is a brief spell enjoyed to the full. But, after this time, it is necessary to wait almost a whole year before you'll get the chance to see them again. This appreciation of the seasons has been encapsulated into everything we do at 'Truffe'. Each product is made with a shocking amount of Fresh Truffle; each product is made only once a year and released to coincide with the peak of the French Truffle season; every year the land produces truffles with subtle variations and differing qualities according to the various climatic factors and as such every batch is subtlety different and impossible to perfectly replicate.
